FACULTY
Eddy A. Bresnitz, MD, MS is an internist and preventive medicine physician and serves as the Deputy Commisioner for the Public Health Services Branch in the new Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. Peter Wenger is a Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine and Community Health at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - New Jersey Medical School, Nancy Hamstra also works for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Gail Cook is a registered nurse and is the Manager of Infection Control at Jersey City Medical Center. Jan Schwarz-Miller, MD, MPH, is the Director of Occupational Medicine for the Morristown Memorial Hospital.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, and other health care professionals in New Jersey who are involved in the care of persons with Public Health Emergencies.
STATEMENT OF NEED
A variety of networks and collaborations have been initiated to develop training courses and improve public health, laboratory, and health care infrastructure after September 11th. However numerous needs assessments indicate that most health care professionals surveyed in NJ feel unprepared to meet their patients care needs and are unaware of what and to whom to report if a threat occurs, nor do they feel integrated into a response team network.
METHOD OF INSTRUCTION
Participants should read the learning objectives and review the activity in its entirety. After reviewing the material, complete the self-assessment test consisting of a series of multiple-choice and True/ False questions.
Upon completing this activity as designed and achieving a passing score of 70% or more on the self-assessment test, participants will receive a credit letter and the test answer key four (4) weeks after receipt of the self-assessment test, registration, and evaluation materials. Estimated time to complete this activity as designed is 1.75 hours.

PHYSICIANS: UMDNJ–Center for Continuing and Outreach Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. UMDNJ–Center for Continuing and Outreach Education designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.75 AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™. Physician should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation
CEUs: UMDNJ-Center for Continuing and Outreach Education certifies that this program meets the criteria for up to 0.175 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), provided the activity is completed as designed. Once CEU equals 10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction.
