The UMDNJ has an established Center for Continuing and Outreach Education (CCOE), which provides training and education to a diverse population of health practitioners. The CCOE employs a variety of training modalities including on-line continuing education. Training can include self-tests and techniques for tracking and monitoring the number and characteristics of clients. The experience and capacity of the CCOE lends itself to developing new materials specifically designed to increase the ability of practicing healthcare workers to diagnose and treat biological, chemical, or nuclear symptoms and injuries.
Rutgers College of Nursing’s Center for Professional Development (CPD) has been accredited as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center since 1985. The Center is known nationally for the quality of the conferences, courses, home study and certificate programs offered. It has the capability to support on-line registration and the award of continuing education contact hours upon completion of a course of study. For this project the CPD will collaborate with the Nursing Center for the purpose of facilitating the award of CE contact hours and the maintenance of records. In collaboration with the College of Nursing’s faculty and staff, the CPD is capable of supporting all types of distance education.
CCOE is the UMDNJ administrative unit identified to serve as the focal point for the University’s continuing and outreach education thrust and is the official “approved provider” for all continuing education activities sponsored by the University. The CCOE is unique because it draws upon the multiplicity of resources within the 8 schools of the University, including dental, medical, osteopathic, health related professionals, nursing, public health, and biomedical science schools, and the network of UMDNJ affiliates throughout the state. With access to all of these resources the CCOE is approved to disperse the following credits |
